Terms of use
These terms apply to the poqui app for iPhone. poqui is made and sold by an individual developer established in Italy: the seller and trader shown on poqui's App Store page (hello@poqui.app). Your licence to use the app is Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement; these terms add to it. By using the app you agree to them; if you do not, please do not use the app.
What poqui is
poqui composes short spoken stories about the place you are in, using AI over public sources such as Wikipedia and Wikidata (text under CC BY-SA). Stories are told for enjoyment and curiosity. They can contain mistakes, and legends are told as legends. poqui is not a navigation, safety or professional information service; do not rely on it for any of those. If something is wrong, use the Report action in the app.
Free use
poqui needs no account. Three stories a day are free. We may change the free allowance and the features of the app over time, and we may withdraw the service; we will give reasonable notice where we can.
poqui Plus (subscription)
- Plus lifts the free limit of three stories a day (a fair-use limit still applies), opens every city guide and the five-minute Go Deeper chapters, and lets you ask poqui to write more new cities a day. It is sold as a monthly or a yearly subscription through Apple's App Store; the price and what it includes are shown in the app before you buy.
- Plus renews automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. Your Apple Account is charged for the renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- You manage and cancel the subscription in your iPhone's Settings › your name › Subscriptions, not in the app. Cancelling keeps Plus until the period you paid for ends; there are no partial refunds for unused time.
- Where a free trial is offered, any unused part of it is forfeited when you buy a subscription.
City guides (when sold separately)
When offered, a city guide is a set of places picked by hand, with stories written by AI and voiced for that city, sold as a one-time in-app purchase through Apple. Guides do not renew and remain available to you in the app, and can be restored on a new device with the same Apple Account.
Payment, refunds and restoring
Payments are processed by Apple under Apple's terms, and refund requests go to Apple. Use Restore purchases in the app's Settings to bring back Plus after reinstalling or changing phones.
Acceptable use
Do not try to circumvent the daily allowance or the request signing, scrape the service, or use it to harm others. Stories and postcards are for your personal use; sharing a postcard is fine.
Content and intellectual property
Source excerpts belong to their authors under their own licences (Wikipedia text is CC BY-SA). The app, its design and its voice are ours. We make no claim to your postcards beyond what is needed to render and share them on your phone.
Liability
poqui is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses arising from the use of the app, including from inaccurate stories or from the service being unavailable. Nothing here limits rights you have as a consumer under the law of your country of residence.
Law
These terms are governed by Italian law. If you are a consumer in the EU, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live and may bring proceedings there.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms; the date above changes when we do, and material changes are announced in the app. Questions: hello@poqui.app.
